Fish Fry Recipe-Black Pomfret

Fish, especially black pomfret is high in protein and omega 3 fats among other nutritional benefits. It is good for the heart, eyes, lungs, brain and skin. It reduces the risk of thrombosis and rheumatic arthritis. Seafood plays a large part in reducing depression

Tip: How to check if fish is fresh: The eyes have to be clear and not cloudy or red. No smell should come from the fish. The fish has to be firm

Ingredients:
1 kg Black pomfret Fish (sliced into thin pieces)
1 tablespoon Ginger garlic paste
1 tablespoon Crushed black pepper
2 tablespoons Red chilli powder (1:1 ratio kashmiri:spicy)
1 Lemon's juice
2 tablespoons Cilantro
10 Curry leaves (chopped fine)
1 tablespoon Salt (as per taste)
3 tablespoons Oil
2 tablespoons Turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
1 tablespoon Coconut oil
1 tablespoon Butter

Method:
1. Wash and let the fish dry. Marinate the fish with 1/4 teaspoon salt and the turmeric powder
Tip: By applying the above mixture to the fish keeps it fresh longer
2. In a bowl add the ginger garlic paste, black pepper, red chilli powder, lemon juice, cilantro, curry leaves, salt, oil and nutmeg. Mix it well and make it into a paste
3. Apply the paste to the turmeric marinated fish and let it marinate for another 30 minutes to 24 hours
Tip: The longer you marinate any seafood or meat the more flavor it has through the meat
4. Put the coconut oil and let the oil heat the pan with high and once hot change the heat to medium
5. Cook each side for 5 minutes and then throw in the butter and give it a good mix. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving
6. Squeeze some lemon on top of the fish just before serving for that extra zing and serve with sliced onions and more lemon wedges
